About

From the mat
to the corner.

Few people in American Taekwondo have seen the sport from as many seats as Stephen Lambdin: athlete, coach, and now the executive responsible for the nation’s Olympic pipeline.

A heavyweight on the U.S. national team for nearly a decade, Stephen represented the United States at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games and medaled at the Pan American Games. When he transitioned to coaching, he carried with him what most coaches never have — a firsthand understanding of what it takes to fight on the sport’s biggest stage.

Since then he has coached Team USA athletes at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and developed World Championships and Grand Prix medalists across the international circuit. As Chief Performance Officer at USA Taekwondo, he leads the High Performance Department — and he remains on the mat daily as a Coach at the US National Academy in Charlotte, NC, working with the country’s best athletes.
